Ryan Reynolds, the star of the upcoming superhero film Deadpool 3, recently shared how he managed to convince his friend and fellow actor Hugh Jackman to return to his iconic role as Wolverine.
The two actors have been discussing the possibility of a crossover for a long time, and the third installment of the Deadpool franchise will finally make it happen.
Reynolds’ Efforts to Bring Jackman Onboard
Reynolds and Jackman have been teasing their collaboration for a while, but it wasn’t until recently that Jackman confirmed his involvement in the film.
In a recent interview with ET Canada, Reynolds shared his excitement about working with Jackman again and how he convinced him to sign on for the project.
“I mean, I never stopped,” Reynolds said when asked about his efforts to bring Jackman on board. “I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I actually just think… I believe in timing…and I think he was ready.”
Reynolds went on to explain that the pitch for the film was enough to convince Jackman to come back. He said, “what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind, that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.”
Reynolds and Jackman will be joined by Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapicic, who are set to reprise their roles as Vanessa and Colussus, respectively. Other cast members include Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen.
Jackman’s Assurance About the Timeline
Jackman’s role in the film is especially exciting for fans, as it will mark the return of his popular character Wolverine.
While some have expressed concerns about the integration of Wolverine into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Jackman recently assured fans that it would not mess with the character’s timeline.
“All because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines, now we can go back because, you know, it’s science, so I don’t have to screw with the Logan timeline, which was important to me,” he said on The Jess Cagle Show.
“And I think probably to the fans too.”
Deadpool 3 is set to be released on November 8, 2024, and fans are eagerly anticipating the return of their favorite characters.
With the addition of Jackman to the cast, it’s sure to be an exciting and action-packed adventure that fans won’t want to miss.
